Nusrat is an EDS Champion and also currently manages the BBO WiLL (Working in Leicestershire) project for WEA, which is the education/training provider for WiLL, working with local unemployed and disengaged participants. Prior to this, she was the East Midlands Education Coordinator (EC) for WEA’s successful Together We Learn ESOL project (funded by MHCLG’s ICELP Together We Learn Programme). Her work was aimed at Pre-Entry and Entry1 ESOL learners to improve community integration and communication skills. In 2018, she delivered the Innovative English Language Skills Pilot - a project funded by the Midlands Engine - which focused on ESOL learners with high levels of professional qualifications. During this project, the use of Canvas as a VLE for ESOL learners was also piloted and subsequently informed the development of Canvas for national ESOL provision. A qualified FE teacher and Internal Quality Assurer with 18+ years of experience working across a range of Pathways (including ESOL/ICT and English), Nusrat has also been involved in WEA's Digital and Support Work in Schools (SWIS) COPs for tutors which is predominately aimed at improving outcomes and accessibility for ESOL learners. She has also delivered “Online Learning in a Live Digital Environment” workshops and discussion forums as part of the Holex Digital ACE project, training tutors and managers on best practice when working with ESOL and low-level learners.
