EdTech: Creating and managing communities of learning
How communities of learning can be formed and become effective through technology. Successful groups are characterised as being able to have a greater output than the sum of its parts. This principle applies to learning, which is why group learning is so common.
Aim
How to create and manage communities of learning for online and blended learning.
Objective
After completing this module, you will be able to:
- Build communities of learning into the structure of course delivery in online learning
- Create resources and activities to strengthen and support the learning communities as mechanisms for reinforcing and extending learning.
Digital Teaching Professional Framework
This module covers the EdTech component - B4a : Teaching context: fully online - towards a community of learning
- Set up learning activities in digital environments, having foreseen learners' needs for guidance and catering for them.
- Interact with learners in digital environments.
- Digitally monitor learner behaviour during a session and offer guidance when needed.
- Use digital technologies to remotely monitor learner progress and intervene when needed, while allowing for self-regulation.
- Experiment with and develop new forms and formats for offering guidance and support, using digital technologies.
