The questions about text to speech were awful.
teaching me
Some of the terminology is a bit woolly, "word Wrap"?? I think you mean text wrapping? and a couple of questions in the final quiz are subjective - I would not recommend using text to speech in a lesson or workshop as the mic will pick up everything in such a noisy environment.
More in depth information given.
This was quite straight forward although the quiz at the end about text flow was abit confusing. I wish when you take the quiz it records your answer you get right and you didn't have to re-take if you get a question wrong. I wish you could just answer questions that relate to that particular topic that you got wrong instead of all of them.
Well structured and the content is useful. Good use of assessment tasks and activities in the module
I found this unit dreadful. The terms used were not the commonly shared ones in my experience e.g. "text flow" I would teach as "wrap text" for example, also which button do you use to start a new line? Answer "the enter key", not in my world I use the enter key to start a new paragraph perhaps. What do you use to edit text? Answer "Voice", "Enter" "Touch screen" was absolutely crazy. And what is the obsession with text to speech? There is plenty of basic ICT skills and concepts for a learner to learn without these sudden diversions down a more complex and confused paths. Very poor!
I found the quiz very difficult and as an IT professional the phrases used were not familiar.
Found it a bit difficult
This quiz took several attempts to get right; the questions were not always clear.
Although I knew all of the content in this Chapter, I did not like the exercises that were produced for it.
I found it very confusing on what was required. I did like some of the suggestions made on activities and exercises to do with the class though.
I really found this module useful! Teaching EDS from September doesn't seem so daunting now! Thank you!
A couple of very poorly worded questions spoiled the experience
quite easy
A useful module which explained several procedures about which I was lacking in confidence
Hey! Only 5 times to get the quiz 100%! 4 times 88%
The questions are poorly worded.
I have now greatly improved in this area
Good content for creating and editing
Useful information
The question on text to speech was difficult to understand
Updated knowledge
A useful Module that filled in some gaps.
Re-sizing question: You mention holding down the 'right mouse button' - Is this a typo or is it 'right' as in 'correct'? In almost every app, rmb opens a contextual menu and doesn't perform editing functions.
Useful, thank you.
Please get someone to proof read the scenario document!
Useful for specific terminology
I found it hard to locate the documents to work on. I would have liked a longer video on inserting tables and images.
I feel more confident in my skills
I did not find the module very helpful. It was very low level and will not aid me in my teaching.
Great lesson
Lots of confusing information and the quiz questions didn't seem to relate to the video/clips
A few useful notes taken from this.
Good ideas to introduce word processing packages
not really enough information in here as to how to help visually impaired learners access word processing
quick brush up of basics; thank you
much more interactivity and discovery made
Useful - several issues made me look into them more closely as I have acquired my own way of achieving things such as Style settings in MS Word. I found some of the video presentations jumped in places e.g. video appeared to indicate that a block of text could just be dropped into a table and it would sort itself appropriately - this made me question whether there was something I'd been missing out on previously but was a worthwhile learning point as it was a reminder for me that jumping steps could be confusing to learners and especially if it were a mixed ability group where you may feel everyone knows something but in reality some may not.
Very good.
would have liked chance to practice voice to speech as part of module =rather than extra work afterwards
A good module, I struggled to recall some of the technical terms.
Thank you for an interesting module.
Straightforeward
This gives clear information to ensure learners can understand and apply the basic rules of formatting.
Some ambiguous questions on the quiz for this one.
Useful for anyone with limited knowledge
I have been editing and formatting documents without any problems for the best part of 30 years, yet I kept failing the quiz on some minor points. Sure getting 6 out of 8 is acceptable to pass the module!
Some of these questions are a little confusing in the way they are worded. Text wrap and Text flow, need to be looked at. It should be obvious from the question (without having to cover the module) what the correct answer is. I'm not sure either about lining up amounts to the right, it would depend on the text being formatted as currency, i.e. two noughts at the end, a decimal tab would be more appropriate.
I only had to do the quiz as my knowledge is good on this subject.
