Liked it, though I do wonder for how much longer the filing cabinet analogy will be relevant. How many people still have them at home or in the workplace? Some indication of file sizes for typical content would be useful. How big is the average photo file? Video file? Half-hour Podcast? How many can you fit on a given external storage device? Scope for an infographic there, I think.
Very good, except there is an error in the quiz question about file/folder names. The question asks if two folders on the same device can have the same name and accepts No as the correct answer. In fact, you can have two folders on a device with the same name as long as the paths to those folders are different. Also cloud systems, such as Google Drive, will use an internal unique number to identify the file or folder as distinct and will ignore the name completely which allows for duplicate names. This may not be best practice but it is allowed.
Enjoyed picking up some new knowledge in an area I thought I knew quite well
Mostly very good, but making a copy and then editing the copy means it becomes a different 'version' of the original - it is no longer a copy (a duplicate). The answer on that question was incorrect
A very thorough look at the topic
excellent
good refresh of storage knowledge..
A good module to revise the basics of information storage.
so pleased that I have now a badge in this area
Overall, a useful resource.
It covered the basics well but would benefit from more applied examples.
interesting module. Felt a bit obvious what the answers were though.
Again, didn't find this module as useful or well-written as the first one, but some good activities suggested.
Tidy. Useful information for classes
completed
hard without the IT knowledge
Full information on date storage - both cloud and and external storage have their advantages and disadvantages. Showing/demonstrate some simple practical step would be a great addition.
Good module , thank you.
was a good and quick insight, simple to understand
Clear and specific development which supports compliance with the GDPR 2018
Just did the test
Background in IT
Really useful information, refreshed my memory in a few areas.
Good quiz
Good tips for teaching although complicated for some learners
Good information here
Good resource and aid
good basic information on the cloud
Interactive and concise with good ideas and tips.
very useful update
This module helped me to understand the differences, pros, and cons of different forms of file storage.
Fairly relevant.
Thought this was a really useful module for colleagues - file management activities are often overlooked, and programmes like CLAIT haven't necessarily made their way into everyone study programme over the last 10-15 years, so a lot of people overlook the importance of understanding file management.
It's useful to have something which encourages learners to think about file types, and the apps they open, naming conventions and general skills in this area.
Only suggestion for improvement is with wording on quiz questions to remove any ambiguity, perhaps use of "folders & sub-folders" instead of drives
very good explanation and helpful
Some useful information.
There are ways to create the same file name twice - complicated, but possible
Very useful!
Informative
informative
Very interesting content
Enjoyed the course
I learned some things beyond my existing knowledge in this module.
Detailed but fast overview. The language and descriptions are suitable for E3 learners to understand but not too detailed.
was a very informative course
helpful for my planning
A very informative unit with good resources.
really enjoyed this module it clarified things that were a little cloudy (excuse the pun)
Very informative module, it enables one master stuff they took for granted when using systems
Good information
I found this so useful! It will really help with planning and delivering this unit. Thank you!
A few typos, but otherwise this was a really interesting module.
Certainly some good teaching tips, and a good refresher on other areas too.
Useful ideas on organising files
Good fun
well explained
I'd really appreciate an editor who used plain English & avoided lots of passive constructions.
Nice content !
very useful I will now improve my practice in this area
it has been an excellent journey so far.
you must read the questions
Very useful module. A lot of good information
