Objective
At the end of the module you will be able to:
- Explain the key knowledge components required to teach Using devices
- Apply the technical skills identified in the module
- Facilitate effective learning of this area of the standards at the relevant level (Entry or Level 1)

Very interesting and taught me things I didn't think I really knew, but had some idea about.
Some useful reminders have been included. I especially like the short learning objectives which get straight to the point although I suspect that users with limited ICT understanding might like further clarification.
Excellent
A good module, lots of information and useful links,
Teaching exemplars are useful, solid info in the module as a whole too.
Gained insight into the device components and operating systems.
The module was really clear and well phrased with good learning activities.
useful information
I enjoyed completing this module and it proved to me that the things I thought I knew, I didn't! A timely reminder to constantly update knowledge.
The teaching resources and suggestions are also very helpful.
The quiz ought to let you submit all at once as otherwise it wastes time. It should still show the incorrect/correct but just submit in one go.
Why do we teach that kilo mega and gigabytes work in 1000 when it is in fact 1024?
This was a great refresher and some new information for me
I felt this was teaching basic words rather than teaching how to use a device
A great introduction.
good basic knowledge tester..
The Resources are very useful in preparing you to deliver EDS with your Learners
This module provides an excellent grounding in practical digital skills and the teaching tips are highly relevant. However, the BBC Accessibility components guide resource link in the section after the text is broken - and I was unable to find the new location for that source within a reasonable amount of time.
Revision and update of knowledge.
Very helpful, especially the videos because I like learning in this way. It's good to understand what everything means; e.g., I didn't know what 'firmware' and 'wetware' are but now I do!
Useful refresher of existing skills and knowledge
Good refresher
excellent
It was an informative module and very enriching
very easy to understand
Interesting unit/module
Useful information to pass to learners who are not so confident using devices/phones.
Useful information
The exemplar activity about creating a pie chart of a device's memory might come in handy for teaching my next spreadsheets class.
A good starting point to improve basic OS knowledge and terminology
If the ambiguity of some questions were revisited, this would improve the learning process, especially for new tutors who have little IT experience.
Thanks
I found it not very practical. I would nor recommend if you have a minimum knowledge about this topic.
It covered the fundamentals well but some of the sections seemed more for filler than being informative.
Really enjoyed this module. Most of the info was not new but it helped think about how to teach it and confirmed correct terminology for devices and software.
Good information regarding hardware and firmware.
Transcript detailed and useful as a reference.
Applications helpful. Terms not so much
Very informative
*****
clear and interactive learning
It was well-created, but a bit basic.
A little bit to technical for me.
An interesting overview of common operating terminology.
Great module, learned about terminology I had not come across before such as firmware and wetware.
Very informative and a wealth of resources to support further development.
I found details of gaps (and solutions) in my knowledge which has increased my confidence to discuss this topic.
interesting module, helped me to confirm my understanding
Really beneficial content , thank you .
Good Course
Easy to understand and access the learning content.
To be honest I just did the test.
I have a degree in computing.
Really good to refresh my memory and learnt about the difference between freeware, firmware, hardware and software.
Enjoyed the module
Solid quiz that made my mind hurt...this was the hardest one yet and not sure I want to do this one ever again!
I enjoyed this module. I had an initial understanding of devices but I have learnt more about freeware, hardware and firmware because of this module.
Good training and some great teaching ideas.
Informative if not succinct.
I found the scenarios very good and the further resources too - like that there is an "extension" slide.
Good information
clear modal. good refresher.
Very quick and easy to follow. Good for all OS operating ideas and functions.
Very useful explanation of the basics
Great module for a basic introduction to devices. I learned more about the vocabulary associated with the devices I use and feel more confident discussing them.
good
A good refresher and at the same time I learnt a bit more.
Interesting and confirms what you think you already knew
Comprehensive
Very informative
Found the module quite easy to complete
Very informative
Interesting
Very interesting I have learnt some new things
Not too difficult and very informative
very interesting
It is very basic an not useful for ordinary users. I thought this may be more useful for someone in IT.
Great resources, very accessible training.
good refresher - learnt new terminology firmware and even wetware !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
