EdTech: Share, Collaborate, Improve (Part 1)
Digital technologies have a particular value in their ability to be shared over distance and then viewed and worked on at different times.
This allows content and resources to be adapted, improved, questioned, have examples added, have gaps and other incompletions filled, and so on, completed at times to suit those who want to learn and teach.
Teachers can support each other in creating learning resources and students can share and develop mutual understanding and personal learning.
Digital technologies make it easy to:
- find out what colleagues are doing in their teaching
- share good practice and learning objects and resources
- work together to create and adopt new materials
This module will help you to share and exchange resources and practices with peers and colleagues.
After completing this module, you will be able to:
• describe the benefits of using digital technology to share resources between peers and colleagues
• recognise simple tools for online sharing of resources
• identify opportunities for using digital technology to co-create, amend and edit shared documents in your own practice.
Digital Teaching Professional Framework

I'm surprised how basic this first module is, but I suppose it's important to start at the beginning, so that's OK.
My one concern is in the part about the collaborative task for learners. It doesn't seem to take account of the research on collaborative peer learning, which suggests that it is very fraught with risk unless actively managed by the teacher. Among the key risks are (1) each learner only truly understands the portion of the task they tackled; (2) learners mislead each other inadvertently because their understanding is less than perfect (3) learners mislead each other inadvertently because their communication skills are not up to the 'teaching' task (4) learners inadvertently mislead each other because their shaky grip of the concepts does not allow them to identify misconceptions in their peers (5) learners inadvertently mislead each other because social dynamics interfere with the learning process eg. I do not want to tell my colleague that he has not understood it (6) some learners do more than their fair share of the work (7) the teacher cannot disentangle what each group member has learned - between them they may collectively understand the whole task, but individually do not.
some useful pointers about what to remember. I'm not sure this would help a tutor who had never previously collaborated online - I hope the modules will be practical!
Its a good idea, but the video and explanations are far too simple. Not all of the concepts are introduced or explained, for example Creative Commons, but you are expected to answer questions about it.
In addition there is no mention of GSuite which is a major player in this space. Was this paid for by Mircorsoft?
I had difficulty using the iPad to complete one of the activities. This was however an interesting topic.
Excellent resource - I found out things I had no or very little idea about. This module helps you understand how collaborative working can be beneficial and save you time.
A clear introduction to collaborative working that mentions both advantages and disadvantages
REally good simple overview of how sharing and collaborating can have a positive impact on learning. Also some good points raised about what needs to be considered before introducing this in your teaching and/or organisation.
Some nice and simple ideas-- and I thought the questions/tasks were useful enough.

Good video, crap assessments. Options to categories simply don't fit in either heading without mental gymnastics or a facilitator to discuss with. Seemed like the assessor just wanted a card sort activity and tried to shoehorn something in.
Nothing here to engage those who are not already engaged with digital.
Definitions of Cloud, Synchronous and Asynchronous are unclear and likely to cause confusion.
However, it's well presented, good video and a nice little module if you're already comfortable with digital technology.
Interesting ideas that we already do - would have liked to see some new ideas really.
An extremely relevant and realistic module which any education establishment should be able to utilise.
