I work for an education consultancy as a teacher trainer and resource designer. I’m currently working towards ATS and specialise in ESOL, English and digital. My passion lies in community learning, empowering people through developing their literacies; whether that’s English or developing their digital resilience.

How did you use the learning from this module in your teaching context?

One thing that particularly stood out to me was in the summary box: ‘If we can’t solve the technical problem, we are left with a teaching problem’. This resonated with me and as such I kept this at the forefront of my mind when approaching the learning wheel:

What worked well?

Taking time before a session to consider and note down any issues that could arise (and my ‘Plan B’s) meant that if/when issues did arise, I felt more confident to deal with them. What would you do differently next time?

I found the Learning Wheel model a little clunky to use as there wasn’t a differentiation between who benefited from the actions on it. I also found that the activity ideas embedded were not necessarily the info I needed; instead it would have been useful to have a quick view of appropriate pedagogies and the advantages and disadvantages of that particular platform.
