The establishment which I currently work within is a Large FE College where we also deliver HE and WBL programmes within the engineering sectors (Mechanical and Electrical). How did you use the learning from this module in your teaching context?

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic a number of the apprenticeship groups have switched to a fully online delivery model due to employer restrictions not allowing learners to attend college. A number of the apprentices in the engineering group which I deliver upon are mature learners (24+) and as such are not as familiar with the remote delivery packages. What worked well?

Being able to develop and deliver assessment methods and tracking to determine and evaluate learner progress whilst delivering on an online platform was a great benefit. This worked very well as it ensured that the learners remained engaged and also meant that learners where aware of their own progress and that they could see the assessment process for themselves in a transparent manner.

What would you do differently next time?

As some of the learners proved to be less engaged than others in the group if I were to begin the process from the start I would ensure that all learners where fully aware of the expectations and how the sessions and assessments had been designed to support them and assist them in fulfilling their potential.
