The establishment which i currently work within is a Large FE College where we also deliver HE and WBL programmes within the engineering sectors (Mechanical and Electrical). How did you use the learning from this/these module(s) (briefly describe the learning context, with a focus on Dealing with Difference and Diversity)

The BYOD device initiative was introduced as a way to engage learners in a new approach due to the COVID - 19 pandemic, after the initial lockdown alongside the BYOD initiative resources were developed with the primary focus being 'audio resources' to further expand the resources available to learners with specific learning difficulties/disabilities.

How did you adapt/modify activities and/or resources for your context providing alternative approaches with specific reference to Dealing with Difference and Diversity practices?

The existing activities and the supporting resources where reviewed and a decision made as to which would be the most suitable for adaptation and revision as part of the project. As the majority of the work is of a practical nature there is a focus on following written instruction or by observing demonstrations. As there were existing resources and assessment preparation materials I decided to use these as a base to adapt them so that they could be used by a wider audience as this had become essential due to the local demographic and current pandemic restrictions. What worked well, or did not work so well? How would you approach the activity/use the resource differently next time?

One area which worked particularly well was the manner in which the learners engaged with the resources and involved themselves with its introduction and by giving feedback about areas that they found useful and also areas that they felt need improving. The feedback that I have received from learners both verbally and via anonymous learner feedback has on the whole been positive, as with any new approach there has been some areas which will need to be reviewed. How have you initiated strategic change/quality improvement in relation to Dealing with Difference and Diversity, eg at a peer, department, organisational, regional, national level)?

As part of the departments strategic focus I have been working on the development and implementation of digital resources within the curriculum, the initial intention was to encourage the use of digital devices within the classroom but this was expanded to include remote online delivery. What will be your next step in bringing about further change?

As the pilot project of the adaption and creation of the inclusive resources has been a success the intention is that this will be developed further with other curriculum areas joining the working group. The decision behind this is so that ideas can be shared across curriculum and to make the department fully inclusive for all learners.
